Rankscale is a software platform that measures how brands, products and ads appear in generative search. Its site calls it the AI visibility tracker for generative search and states coverage of more than 17 engines, from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini to Google AI Overviews, in more than 240 countries and all languages. The product is built in Vienna, Austria.
Rankscale was started in October 2024 by Mathias, who, according to the site, came to it after years in tech, sales and marketing roles in the corporate world. Patrick joined as CMO in April 2025, the official launch with a subscription model followed in July 2025, and the site reports that the team had tripled in size by January 2026. Access is sold on credits rather than seats, with a monthly allowance in each plan and top-ups in the app.
What Rankscale does
- AI rank tracking: a visibility score, rankings and sentiment for each engine, with brand mentions, citations, share of voice and historical trends paired with recommendations.
- Brand visibility dashboard: several brands managed at once, with the data sliced by AI engine and by timeframe.
- Competitor analysis: competitors detected automatically in AI answers, then compared on visibility score, citations and sentiment to show ranking gaps.
- Citation analysis: which sources AI engines cite for a brand, and how often.
- Sentiment analysis: sentiment by brand, topic and model, with positive and negative keyword themes followed over time.
- Page audits: an AI readiness score for any URL, drawn from more than 94 technical checkpoints on AI bot crawlability, site hierarchy and technical SEO signals, with fixes ranked by priority.
- Prompt research: an estimate of prompt search volume through what the site calls semantic reconstruction, with the intent and density of prompts.
- Ad analytics, shopping analysis and query fanout, which the pricing page lists in every plan.
How the tracking works
Rankscale queries the engines a customer selects on a schedule that runs from hourly to monthly (the site counts 8 monitoring schedules) and records how the brand appears in each answer. Each query uses a fraction of a credit, typically 0.25, so a plan's credits turn into a number of tracked answers that depends on the engines chosen. Unused credits roll over to the next billing cycle instead of expiring, and more can be topped up at any time.
The engines named on the site include ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Copilot, DeepSeek, Grok and Mistral. Data can be sent to Google Looker Studio, and Rankscale also offers an MCP server and a REST API.
