Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible
The controller of personal data is Sels de Rehy, LLC, whose details appear in the Legal notice. For anything about your data, write to support@markleex.com.
2. What we hold
- Your account: your email address, your password kept only as a hash, the date you created the account, the date your address was confirmed, and when you were last seen.
- What you publish: your Markleex Name, the pages you write and each of their versions, the display name and kind you declare for your entity, the colour of your band, your profile image, the relationships you declare or confirm, and the websites you have verified.
- Your image library: the files you upload, their size and the time they are stored, which is what the meter reads.
- Billing: the identifiers that let us reconcile your entity with our billing provider, and what storage has been metered. We never see or store card details.
- Machine access: your API keys, kept only as hashes, and the applications you have authorized, with the scopes you granted them.
- Technical logs: the servers that serve the Platform keep request logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited time.
3. What is public
Markleex is a publishing platform, so most of the list above is public on purpose. At your address, to anyone who asks for it, people and machines alike, we serve: your Markleex Name, your display name and kind, your profile image, the text of your pages, the relationships both parties have confirmed together with the address of the other entity, the websites you have verified with the date we read them, and the date of your last annual confirmation. The same facts are served as structured data and in the plain-text twin of each page.
Your email address is never published, and neither are your keys, your authorizations, your library or what you have been billed.
Write on your pages what you mean to make public. What is published can be read, quoted, indexed and copied by third parties, and removing it from the Platform does not remove it from them.
4. Why we hold it
- Running the Platform and serving your pages at their address: performance of the contract.
- Creating your account, confirming your address, signing you in, and the messages that go with it: performance of the contract.
- Metering storage, taking payment and issuing invoices: performance of the contract, and legal obligation for the invoices.
- Keeping the Platform secure, available and free of abuse: our legitimate interest.
- Answering you when you write to us: our legitimate interest.
5. Who else sees it
Your data is never sold, and it is never used for advertising. It is shared with the following categories of recipients, acting on our instructions:
- Our billing provider, which hosts the payment page, processes the card payment and issues invoices.
- Our infrastructure providers, which host the Platform and store the files it serves, under appropriate contractual safeguards. The current list is available on request.
- Our email provider, for the messages the Platform sends you.
Beyond that, what you publish is served to whoever asks for it, which is the point of the Platform.
6. Where it is processed
Sels de Rehy, LLC is established in the United States, and our providers operate in the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is on the basis of appropriate safeguards, in particular the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or a recognized equivalent.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account: for as long as it exists, then limited archiving to handle obligations and disputes.
- Your pages and their versions: for as long as your entity exists. A page in the trash keeps its versions and can come back.
- A deleted entity: its addresses stop answering at once, and what it held is erased when its Markleex Name is taken again, which cannot happen before the 90-day redemption period has run.
- Library files: released after 90 days without credit, as set out in the Terms of Service.
- Invoices: for the period the applicable law requires.
- Technical logs: a limited period, for security.
8. Cookies
The Platform sets one cookie, the session cookie, and only when you sign in or use a form that needs one. Reading a published page sets nothing. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie and no third-party script: the pages we serve carry no JavaScript at all.
9. Your rights
Under applicable law, in particular the GDPR if you are in the European Union, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to decide what becomes of your data after your death. Much of it is in your own hands at any moment: your pages are yours to edit or put in the trash, your relationships are yours to revoke, and deleting your entity takes its addresses down at once.
To exercise a right, write to support@markleex.com. You may also complain to your supervisory authority, which in France is the CNIL. If you live in California, or in another US state granting equivalent rights, you have comparable rights of access, deletion and objection to the sale of your data, which we do not engage in.
10. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures: passwords and API keys are kept as hashes and never in the clear, card details never reach us, each entity is reachable only by the accesses that hold it, and links sent by email can be used once and expire. No system is infallible, so we cannot promise absolute security.
11. Changes
We may amend this policy. Material changes are notified by reasonable means, and the date of the last update is at the top of this page.
12. Contact
